Permadoor is a founder member of the Association of Composite Door Manufacturers (ACDM), which has been formed to promote and represent the concept of composite doors - namely, those doors that are made from more than one material. The formation of the Association of Composite Door Manufacturers represents a milestone in the development of the composite door as a product and underlines its increasing popularity in all facets of the Housing Market.
A major part of ACDM's remit, is to represent the concept of composite doors within technical and consultative bodies involved in the formation of door performance standards across new build and home improvement markets in Britain and Europe.
The Association includes ten founder members representing all of the key construction types and incorporates original pioneers and market leaders who are determined to ensure the highest standards of this innovative product continue to be maintained. Additional members are being sought, however all must prove their compliance with the necessary requirements.
The quantum growth of composite doors over recent years and the proliferation of manufacturers producing them, requires a unified representative body to establish recommended standards and to provide the specifier with clear information as to which companies meet these standards.
Unlike any other association representing door manufacturers, ACDM has established a minimum standard for membership, based upon actual product performance. Only those composite door manufacturers who have achieved PAS 23 and PAS 24 with a UKAS test house, may be considered for membership. This will assist specifiers when seeking composite doors of a proven standard of security, weather resistance and performance.
By setting minimum standards of product performance as an essential requirement for membership, ACDM is establishing a quality expectation that can be relied upon from all member companies.
ACDM recognises that the entire concept of 'composite doors' is new and thus may be understandably confusing to some. It is therefore an aim of the association to remove any confusion by clearly stating the material differences and responding impartially to enquiries of a generic nature. A website and helpline will be introduced to provide information about members.
